The US Drug War
Drug Use Is A Personal Religion

Hempower Utah Messenger

March 1996

Christians and Jews use alcohol in their most sacred rituals. Native Americans use tobacco and peyote in their spiritual ceremonies. Worshipers of Shiva, the Hindu God of enlightenment, are advised by Shiva to smoke hemp for spiritual knowledge.

For government to interfere in these religious rites would be the same as if they decided to outlaw baptism or fasting or prayer or music or dance in worship services.

The Utah Constitution says this about the religious practice of hemp smoking: "All men have the inherent and inalienable right to ... worship according to the dictates of their conscience;... The rights of conscience shall never be infringed. The state shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free excursive thereof;... Perfect toleration of religious sentiment is guaranteed. No inhabitant of this State shall ever be molested in person or property on account of his or her mode of worship;..." (Article I section 1; Article I section 4; Article III; Utah Constitution)

Therefore, when you elect me Governor of Utah, if I do not immediately end the drug war in this state, I will have violated my oath of office and deserve to be impeached as quickly as possible.

Is my campaign a call to revolution? No! Those tyrants who have ignored the constitution are the revolutionaries. I am calling for a return to the constitution that all government officers have promised to support, obey and defend. We are the good guys!

Let us work together to inform our judgmental neighbors that Utah was established 100 years ago with certain freedoms and we intend on having them! Never be ashamed of your religion or lifestyle just because it is "different".

The U.S. Constitution is on your side. I am one political candidate who is on your side.
